SHIELD: THE HEART OF D-AIR®
The Shield, the Dainese airbag, is what makes D-air® unique.
It controls the air to create the shield that envelops effectively in the event of dangerous dynamics. Whereas most airbags deform when exposed to the extreme pressure generated by the spreading air, compromising protection in certain areas of the body, Dainese D-air®’s patented microfilament technology ensures that air spreads evenly inside the Shield, over the whole coverage area, without the possibility of movement. The result is high-level protection over every single centimeter.
Maximum protection, for three activations
The D-air® 3X airbag system is certified for a maximum of three activations, guaranteed by the gas generator positioned inside the hump. The D-air® FRS (Fast Replacement System) also allows you to autonomously remove and replace the system’s gas generator, which activates the airbag in the event of an accident. It’s the highest level of protection, and even more versatile.
Replaceable airbag
In the latest-generation D-air® systems, after the third activation, the Shield can be easily replaced at an authorized Dainese D-air® dealer.

ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT: THE BRAIN OF D-AIR®
The software and its sophisticated algorithm, developed over 30 years of experience in the most extreme environments, are the core of the electronic control unit, the real brain of D-air® that detects and analyzes the incoming data from the sensors 1,000 times per second. Today, the Dainese algorithm is based on more than two million kilometers of experience, while the control unit has been constantly developed, step by step, to ensure the highest levels of reliability and safety.
Stand-alone: Turn it on and go
Dainese D-air® doesn’t require any connection with the motorcycle. It is activated by the wireless electronic control unit and the sophisticated patented algorithm.
Always maximum control
The Dainese D-air® user interface consists of a multicolored LED to give the rider an indication of the different system statuses. The interface colors are red, yellow, green, blue, and purple. The airbag system is always under control.
