FAQ D-AIR® RACING
The latest models of suits equipped with the D-air® Racing system only require replacement of the gas generator after the first two activations; the airbag must also be replaced after the third activation.
Previous generations of D-air® Racing suits, meanwhile, require replacement of the entire airbag-generator system after each deployment.

Suits equipped with a D-air® Racing system that can be connected to the D-air® app allow riders to choose between Track riding mode—which can only be used on the track—and road riding mode—which can only be used on public roads open to general traffic.
Older-generation suits equipped with a D-air® Racing system that cannot be paired with the D-air® app do not offer this feature and can therefore only be worn on the track.
Yes. All of D-air® Racing’s performance characteristics have been verified and certified through extremely rigorous testing. The D-Air Racing airbag has successfully passed the tests required by standards EN 1621.1 and EN 1621.4.
The system has also undergone an additional series of very rigorous tests designed to verify its reliability under adverse weather conditions, such as extreme heat, or in the presence of strong electromagnetic interference, to name just a few.
Another very important test conducted is the safety test, which demonstrated that even if the D-air® Racing system activates without a fall, it does not interfere with the rider's ability to maintain control of the bike.
D-air® Racing uses highly sophisticated activation technology—much smarter than a simple cable. Its advanced activation algorithm allows it to distinguish between different types of fall and determine whether and how to respond. If the dynamics of a fall do not justify activation, the system will not activate, thus avoiding unnecessary expense for testing and replacements.

When a suit is sold, the installed firmware is always updated to the latest available version, and if the suit is returned to Dainese for repair or analysis, the latest version is automatically installed where necessary.
Users can update the airbag firmware themselves via the D-air® app only on devices paired with the app; for all D-air® models that cannot be paired with the app, the update must be performed directly by Dainese.
All firmware versions released by Dainese are verified and functional, even if the installed version is not the latest available.
With the D-air® system, the weight of the suit ranges from approximately 6.5 kg for size 44 to 9 kg for size 60.
