MICROFILAMENT TECHNOLOGY

The precision of air and microfilament control for uniform protection.

The Shield, the Dainese D-air® airbag used in Smart Air and D-air® racing suits, uses patented microfilament technology to precisely control the expansion of the air inside it. The microfilaments connect the walls of the bag and, in the event of activation, keep them at a constant distance of 5 cm over the entire coverage area. This ensures that the air inside the airbag is properly controlled, providing uniform protection.

The bag takes on a engineered three-dimensional shape that envelops the coverage area and allows it to absorb up to 7 times more energy than a rigid protector. This is air protection.

DIAFRAMMA TECHNOLOGY - SMART GO

Internal layering, air control, and shape stability.

Smart GO incorporates the D-air® principle into a new airbag design. The bag incorporates the patented DIAFRAMMA, developed with a special internal layered structure that controls air expansion and maintains a stable shape during impact.

Lightweight and flexible while in use during rides, it harnesses internal pressure and material tension when activated to generate a structural stiffening known as the Dynamic Arch Effect, providing uniform protection across the entire covered area.

From the track to the road – a life-saving algorithm.

The software and its sophisticated algorithm, developed over 30 years of experience in the most extreme environments, are the core of the electronic control unit, the real brain of D-air® that detects and analyzes incoming data from the sensors 1,000 times per second. Owing to a sophisticated sensor network, accelerometers, gyroscopes and GPS, the system autonomously recognizes dangerous situations and activates the airbag in just a few milliseconds. Introduced to MotoGP™ racing in 2007, Dainese’s algorithm is now being constantly refined by collecting data on millions of kilometers traveled on road, track and any dynamic situation.

Every Dainese D-air® airbag system is designed and developed for its specific field of application, to react and activate intelligently depending on the environment for which it was designed.
