Born in Granollers, Catalonia, on 10 June 1991, Pol Espargaro is among the purest talents to emerge from the prolific Spanish school in recent years. After sporadic appearances in the 2006 season, he joined the 125cc category of the 2007 World Motorcycle Championship on a permanent basis, and went on to take his first podium in the Portugal Grand Prix of 16 September. Victory came in 2009 at Indianapolis, and the following year he placed third in the World Championship with three wins and nine seasonal podiums more.

In 2011 Espargaró raced in the Moto2 class, where he clinched his first podium with second place in Indianapolis. The following year he had four wins in the Middle Class and came in second in the championship. 2013 was the year of his definitive endorsement. With the Kalex of the Pons Team, Espargaró became the Moto2 World Champion with six victories and as many pole positions, graduating to MotoGP in 2014 with the Yamaha Tech 3 Team.
“Polyccio” remained with the French team in the MotoGP class for the following three seasons, consistently finishing in the top 10 in the championship, but in the meantime he also found time to win two notable victories at the prestigious Suzuka 8 Hours, winning pole position on both occasions. Pol Espargaró accepted a new challenge for 2017: he became a factory rider for the newborn KTM Racing Team and finished 15th in the championship, scoring several top 10 finishes along the way. He will surely step up his game even further in 2018!
