In the following two years in the Moto2 class, the ace from Abruzzo repeated the same placement in the Championship, garnering a total of eight wins, nineteen podiums and five pole positions, consistently proving himself to be among the most combative motorcycle riders on the track, and he was finally signed up by Ducati for the rise into the premier class.
In 2013 and 2014, Iannone raced in the MotoGP with the Pramac satellite team, and in 2015 was promoted to the official team of the company from Borgo Panigale, with whom he won his first podium in the premier class in the opening race in Qatar and the first pole at Mugello; he finished 5th place overall in the championship and on August 14th 2016, at the Austrian Grand Prix, “The Maniac” took his first career win in MotoGP.
At the end of that season, Iannone left Ducati to become an official Suzuki factory rider. The next step for Andrea will be trying to be a regular podium contender on every track!
