EMIRATES TEAM NEW ZEALAND AND DAINESE WIN THE 35TH AMERICA’S CUP

It was a day to remember for Emirates Team New Zealand, who won the 35th America’s Cup in an impressive race against Oracle Team USA.

The Kiwi team brought the cup back to New Zealand after a 17-year absence, in a rematch of the 2013 final won by the American side. ETNZ clocked up eight race wins to Oracle’s one, lifting the trophy with a final score of 7-1.

“We’re just blown away. We came here to win and right now we’re taking the America’s Cup back home to New Zealand”, said helmsman Peter Burling.

With the help of Dainese, ETNZ adopted what was a revolutionary solution in the sailing world, using pedals instead of traditional “coffee grinders” to operate the winches. Dainese provided the team with the innovative Sea-Guard jacket, designed and produced specifically for this purpose.

Sea-Guard is the first item of protective clothing specially designed for competitive sailing. In addition to its floating function, it provides impact protection and ensures next-generation grinders have complete freedom of movement as they use their leg power to push pedals instead of arm-powered winch grinding.

We are just as excited as our friends at Emirates Team New Zealand about this historic result! Congratulations to the whole team on achieving such an amazing victory!
