Franco Morbidelli: among the most promising motorcyclists – Dainese

Franco Morbidelli

Franco Morbidelli, born in Rome on 4 December 1994, is certainly one of the most promising figures of Italian motorcycle racing. Following in his father’s footsteps, he began his career in 2011 in the European Superstock 600 category, winning the title in 2013. In 2014 he joined the “family” of the VR46 Riders Academy and made his debut in the Moto2 World Championship, having been signed up by the ItalTrans Team.

In the two seasons he spent with the Bergamo team, “Morbido” developed at a remarkable pace, culminating with third place in the Indianapolis Grand Prix of 2015, the first championship podium of his career. In 2016, he graduated to the Marc VDS Racing Team and displayed his talents by securing eight podium placements.

In 2017, following a dominant season punctuated by 6 poles, 8 wins and another 3 podium finishes, Morbidelli was crowned Moto2 World Champion at the Sepang International Circuit. This triumph earned him a place in the 2018 MotoGP World Championship with the Marc VDS Racing team itself and a shining Honda RC213V.
