YELLOW BAD LUCK

24 May 2006 | News

Misfortune keeps dogging the heels of both Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo.
Before the start of the race in Le Mans, the Doctor had humorously given his English bulldog Guido - the figure on the decals that adorn his bike and gloves - a change in look. Seeing as how 32 points below the peak of the World Motorcycle Racing Championship standings felt mighty cold, Valentino wrapped his mascot in a wool scarf and cap, but even this little lucky charm proved to be of no avail: with just 7 laps to go to the finish line and Valentino firmly in the lead ahead of Daniel Pedrosa, the Yamaha M1 engine conked out and the ace from Tavullia was left on foot. Now the distance from the top has become 43 points, but as everyone knows, Valentino vaunts unlimited resources and we're still hoping for a memorable season just as well.
A different story with the same unhappy ending ejected Jorge Lorenzo from the Le Mans Grand Prix race: Parafuera was hit by Roberto Locatelli at the start of the event and now stands in 5th place 29 points behind Andrea Dovizioso.
The only good news comes from Daniel Pedrosa, who finished 3rd with worn-out tires after winning the pole position on Saturday, and Thomas Lüthi, who after a rough start to the season complicated by a broken collarbone and problems in coming to terms with his Honda finally succeeded in winning a race in 125 competition.

In D-Challenge competition, our compliments go to "mirkocolasante from Rome (Ostia Lido) and WILLY46 from SAINT CONTEST, who both won the t-shirts awarded as prizes for the race.
The next appointment is scheduled for Mugello, in the hopes that Lady Luck turns her gaze back in the direction of our champions.
