Val d'Isere (France). On February 14, 2009, Maria Riesch was crowned Women’s Special Slalom World Champion. The German skier brought Dainese its third medal in this World Ski Championship in the wake of the gold and bronze medals won by Aksel Svindal.
Only in 7th place at the end of the first heat, Maria came back with a picture-perfect second run and her adversaries could only battle for second place.
Too bad for Manuela Moelgg: this member of the Italian Women’s National Ski team who regularly uses Dainese protectors still held 1st place halfway through the race when a fatal error just a few flags away from the end ruined her chances for victory.
