Ski World Cup 2011/12
Another winter is almost upon us and soon the Alpine Ski World Cup will commence. On October 22 and 23 the traditional Opening Races will be held on the snowy slopes of Sölden in Austria and will include a men's and a women's giant slalom. Among the favourites at the starting gate are several athletes with Dainese helmets, masks and protective gear. Maria Hӧfl Riesch, holder of the overall World Cup title, promises to be a contender again this year. Aksel Svindal will begin chasing his third Crystal Ball after victories in 2007 and 2009. Competing in Sölden will also be Italians Manfred and Manuela Moelgg, Alexander Ploner and Florian Eisath in addition to Norwegians Leif Kristian Haugen, Iver Bjerkestrand and the Moldovan Mirko Deflorian.
The World Cup is scheduled to continue until March 2012. Among the top Dainese athletes, we will see the Italian Cristian Deville in the slalom, and the German Gina Stechert and Italians Werner Heel and Johanna Schnarf in the speed events. As always, many other athletes will be using Dainese protective gear.
Starting this year Dainese is also the official supplier of the Canadian Alpine Ski Team. New athletes are testing products developed for the racing line which could soon join an already winning team.
The range of products for professional athletes offers significant innovations: the new GT Carbon helmet has been custom made in different Replica versions for our champions. Both the carbon shin guards and the gloves with titanium protection have been renewed. The back protectors have been improved in terms of comfort, while maintaining the highest safety standards that they are well known for.
