Un week-end entusiasmante per gli appassionati del grande sci. La Coppa del Mondo fa tappa in due località tra le più belle e prestigiose al mondo per il turismo invernale. A Wengen (Svizzera) gareggiano gli uomini, mentre in Italia, a Cortina d’Ampezzo, di scena le gare femminili.

Venerdì 13 gennaio si corre la supercombinata di Wengen. Aksel Lund Svindal termina la gara con un 19° posto non certo entusiasmante, complice anche l’influenza che lo ha debilitato in questi giorni.

Sabato 14 gennaio si replica a Wengen con la gara di discesa libera. Il canadese Erik Guay è 8°, mentre Svindal si migliora e ottiene la 12^ posizione. L’azzurro Werner Heel termina 21° e precede di poco l’altro atleta Dainese Jan Hudec , 22°.
Quasi in contemporanea, si corre la discesa libera femminile di Cortina d’Ampezzo. Maria Hoefl-Riesch ritrova la forma e il risultato e sale sul terzo gradino del podio. 16^ l’azzurra Johanna Schnarf.

Le gare di domenica riservano altre soddisfazioni agli atleti Dainese. Nello slalom di Wengen, sesto posto per l’azzurro Cristian Deville, seguito a ruota dal compagno di squadra Stefano Gross. In super gigante a Cortina, Maria Hoefl-Riesch si conferma sul podio, questa volta ottima seconda. 21^ Johanna Schnarf.

An exciting weekend for ski fans with the Ski World Cup events held in two of the most prestigious and attractive winter sports venues in the world; Wengen (Switzerland) for the men’s races and Cortina d’Ampezzo in Italy for the women’s races.

On Friday 13 January in Wengen the super-combined saw Aksel Lund Svindal finish the race a rather disappointing 19^th, reflecting his debilitated physical condition caused by flu.

Saturday 14 January, again in Wengen, was the turn of the downhill where the Canadian Erik Guay came 8^th and Svindal improved his performance, coming in 12^th. The Italian Werner Heel finished 21^th, just ahead of the other Dainese athlete Jan Hudec, 22^nd.
Almost simultaneously, in the women’s downhill in Cortina d’Ampezzo Maria Hoefl-Riesch showed an amazing return to her best physical condition and to the podium, achieving a great 3^rd place while the Italian Johanna Schnarf finished 16^th.

Sunday’s races held some other satisfactory results in store for the Dainese athletes. In the slalom at Wengen, the Italian Cristian Deville, finished sixth, with his team mate Stefano Gross right behind him. In the Super G at Cortina, Maria Hoefl-Riesch confirmed her winning form with her excellent second place on the podium, while Johanna Schnarf finished 21^st.

Le gare di fine anno e inizio 2012 non regalano vittorie per gli atleti Dainese, ma alcuni importanti piazzamenti.

Il 28 e 29 dicembre, a Lienz (Austria) il circuito femminile prevedeva uno slalom e uno slalom gigante. Da segnalare il 6° posto di Manuela Moelgg e il 9° di Maria Hoefl-Riesch nella gara di slalom e il 10° posto, sempre di Maria Hoefl Riesch, in gigante.

Il 29 dicembre si è gareggiato a Bormio (Italia). Una discesa libera avvincente dove il canadese Erik Guay ha sfiorato il podio chiudendo al 4° posto. Appena più indietro Aksel Lund Svindal, buon 6°.

Il 2012 inizia con due gare sulle nevi della collina di Sljeme, nei pressi di Zagabria (Croazia). Il 3 gennaio sono di scena le donne e Manuela Moelgg conferma progressi, chiudendo 4^, a ridosso del podio. Stesso risultato per Cristian Deville nella gara maschile del 5 gennaio , a cui va aggiunto l’ottavo posto di Manfred Moelgg.

Il 7 e 8 gennaio si è corso in slalom gigante e slalom ad Adelboden (Svizzera). Un evento classico del circuito maschile a cui assistono più di 20.000 spettatori. Nella gara di slalom, da segnalare il primo podio in carriera dell’azzurro Stefano Gross, splendido 3°. Manfred Moelgg ottiene un 19° posto in gigante e la 18^ piazza in slalom.

A Bad Kleinkirchheim (Austria) sono invece impegnate le donne del massimo circuito. Il 7 gennaio, l’azzurra Johanna Schnarf ottiene la 19^ piazza nella gara di discesa libera, mentre abbandona la gara anzitempo nel supergigante del giorno seguente. Assente la campionessa Maria Hoefl-Riesch, colpita da influenza.

The competitions of the end of the year and beginning of 2012 didn’t bring in any victories for the Dainese athletes but some important rankings.

On the 28 and 29 December, in Lienz (Austria) a slalom and giant slalom were scheduled for the women’s circuit with Manuela Moelgg coming in 6^th. Maria Hoefl-Riesch came in 9^th in the slalom and 10^th in the giant slalom.

On the 29 December the races were held in Bormio (Italy). An exciting downhill with the Canadian Erik Guay just missing the podium in 4^th place and Aksel Lund Svindal just slightly behind coming in a good 6^th.

2012 began with two races on the snows of Sljeme, just outside Zagabria (Croatia). The 3 January was the women’s turn with Manuela Moelgg confirming her progress and finishing 4^th, just off the podium. In the men’s race on 5 January Cristian Deville achieved the same ranking, added to which was the eighth place of Manfred Moelgg.

On 7 and 8 January the giant slalom and slalom were held in Adelboden (Switzerland), a classic date on the men’s circuit attended by over 20,000 spectators. In the slalom Stefano Gross, the Italian athlete, got the first podium of his career with a splendid 3^rd place while Manfred Moelgg came in 19^th in giant slalom and 18^th in the slalom.

At Bad Kleinkirchheim (Austria) it was the turn of the top ranking ladies; on 7^th January the Italian Johanna Schnarf finished 19^th in the downhill while she was forced to abandon the race the following day. The champion skier Maria Hoefl-Riesch, hit by flu, was unable to compete.

A Flachau, in Austria, due slalom in notturna davvero avvincenti che sostituiscono le gare di Levi (Finlandia), annullate per mancanza di neve a novembre.

Martedì è il turno delle donne. L’austriaca Marlies Schield sembra ormai imbattibile e coglie il terzo successo consecutivo nella disciplina a lei più congeniale. Le soddisfazioni per Dainese arrivano da Maria Hoefl-Riesch che torna sul podio, seconda e molto convincente. Dopo un avvio di stagione a fasi alterne, si è rivista sciare ai livelli dello scorso anno quando ha saputo conquistare la Coppa del Mondo generale. Buona gara anche per Manuela Moelgg che termina al decimo posto.

Lo slalom maschile di mercoledì riserva un’altra grande soddisfazione per Dainese. L’azzurro Cristian Deville sale per la seconda volta in stagione sul podio. E’ terzo, a soli 9 centesimi dal vincitore. Una performance di altissimo livello che consente all’atleta di Moena di portarsi al secondo posto nella classifica mondiale di slalom.

In Flachau, Austria, two very exciting night slalom races to replace the Levi (Finland) races, cancelled due to lack of snow in November.

Tuesday was the women's turn. The Austrian Marlies Schield seemed unbeatable and has now taken her third consecutive victory in the discipline she likes most. The Dainese's satisfactions came from Maria Hoefl-Riesch who returned to the podium, a very convincing second. After an up-and-down start of the season, her skiing returned to last year's level when she won the overall World Cup. It was also a good race for Manuela Moelgg who finished in tenth place.

The men's slalom on Wednesday provided Dainese with another great satisfaction. The Italian Cristian Deville climbed on the podium for the second time this season. He was third, just 9 hundredths behind the winner. A performance of the highest level that put Moena in second place in the worldwide slalom rankings.
