WINDING UP WITH A FLOURISH WITH MANFRED

A highly-desired achievement crowned a constant improvement that culminated in a podium position on the season’s most important day. Congratulations to Manfred - a Dainese Team member for the first time this year - for bringing home the best result of the season by winning a bronze medal that confirms him as one of the best slalom skiers in the world!
The race was undoubtedly difficult, both on account of the highly technical slope and the conditions of the snow compromised by temperatures above average for the season.
It wasn’t easy to ski with assurance on such soft, slushy snow; it took conviction and precision, and Manfred had all this and more to bring also this Championship event to a close with a smile.

The Garmisch 2011 Ski World Championship came to conclusion with excellent performances by our skiers in the final races: no medals, but convincing results just the same: two 6th place finishes for Manuela Moelgg, who proved capable of battling with the best in both Giant and Slalom competition, a 4th place finish after a fantastic first run for Aksel Lund Svindal in the Men’s Giant, and another 4th place finish in the Special Slalom for Maria Riesch, who just barely missed adding another medal in the more technical specialties to the ones she’d already won for speed.
Lastly, alongside the podium position won by Manfred, Cristian Deville confirmed his potential in yesterday’s (February 20) race with a 7th place finish with another top-10 entry for this fantastic season.

Un traguardo cercato, voluto fortemente, che corona una crescita costante terminata sul podio proprio nel giorno più importante della stagione: complimenti Manfred, da quest'anno atleta del Team Dainese, per aver centrato proprio a Garmisch il miglior risultato di questa stagione, una medaglia di bronzo che lo conferma tra i migliori slalomisti al mondo!
La gara è stata certamente difficile, un po' per la pista, decisamente tecnica, un po' per le condizioni della neve, vittima delle temperature da tempo sopra le medie stagionali.
Non si poteva sciare in sicurezza su una neve così molle, ci volevano convinzione e precisione, e tutto ciò non è mancato al nostro campione. Il modo migliore per chiudere con il sorriso anche questa appuntamento Mondiale.

Si chiude così la rassegna iridata di Garmisch 2011, le ultime gare hanno portato ulteriori belle prestazioni da parte dei nostri atleti, non da podio, ma ugualmente convincenti: due sesti posti per Manuela Moelgg, capace di lottare tra le migliori sia in gigante che in slalom, un 4° posto, dopo una fantastica prima manche, per Aksel Lund Svindal in gigante, ancora un 4° posto in Slalom speciale per Maria Riesch, che non riesce per un soffio ad aggiungere una medaglia nelle discipline tecniche a quelle vinte in velocità.
Infine, accanto al podio di Manfred, la conferma di Cristian Deville nella gara di ieri (20 febbraio): settimo posto, ancora un risultato nei dieci in questa fantastica stagione.
