Dainese sponsored team DGSport wins the 8 hours of Endurance - Endurance World Championship

We rode the perfect race in Qatar!

The Yamaha DG Sport Herock ended 7th at the 8 Hours of Doha and won the Superstock category with a lap in advance of the winners of the World Title 2011. The 30 points of the Qatar victory bring us to 5th place in the World ranking. It’s a great reward for a season where luck hasn’t always been on our side. « We always said that we had the perfect ingredients to win, Olivier Aerts reminds us. Here we ran the perfect race, following the race strategy to a tee. We had to return to the box earlier than expected due to an engine-overheating alert but thanks to that we had one less stop at the end of the race. Thanks to the tyres we received by Michelin, we could do two relais with the same set of tyres, which made us gain a lot of time at the stops. Michelin has been a very important support throughout this season and an ace for this victory. Linked to a trouble-free race and a high-performing trio of riders, that pays off ! »

After becoming the Dutch Superbike runnerup, Raymond Schouten came to enforce the team in Qatar. Together with Hugo Marchand and Josep Monge, he formed a very homogeneous and fast trio. « We made a good start, Raymond explains. Our unforeseen stop cost us time but we reacted quickly and soon found the motivation to get back into the race. Michelin was a big help in obtaining the lead of the Superstock category, as we could do two relais with one set of tyres and without losing time on track. »

Abbiamo guidato la gara perfetta in Qatar!

La Yamaha DG Sport HEROCK è finita 7° alla 8 ore di Doha e ha vinto la categoria Superstock con un giro di anticipo sui vincitori del Mondo Titolo 2011. I 30 punti della vittoria in Qatar ci portano ad un 5 ° posto nella classifica mondiale. E ' una ricompensa per il lavoro di una stagione, dove la fortuna non è sempre stata dalla nostra parte. Olivier Aerts ci ricorda «Abbiamo sempre detto che noi avevamo i numeri per vincere. Qui abbiamo gestito la gara perfettamente: abbiamo seguito alla lettera la strategia programmata. Siamo dovuti tornare ai box prima di quanto previsto a causa di un allarme surriscaldamento di un motore, ma grazie a questo abbiamo avuto uno stop in meno alla fine della gara. Grazie ai pneumatici che abbiamo ricevuto da Michelin, siamo riusciti a fare due relais con lo stesso set di gomme, che ci ha fatto guadagnare un sacco di tempo. Michelin è stata un supporto molto importante in tutta questa stagione e un asso per questa vittoria. Sommando questo a una gara senza problemi e alle performance stellari del nostro trio di piloti, quante soddisfazioni! »

Dopo essere diventato vice-campione olandese di Superbike, Raymond Schouten è venuto a rinforzare la squadra in Qatar. Insieme a Hugo Marchand e Josep Monge, ha formato un trio molto omogeneo e veloce. «Abbiamo avuto un buon inizio, Raymond spiega. La nostra fermata imprevista ci è costata tempo, ma abbiamo reagito rapidamente e abbiamo presto trovato la nostra motivazione per tornare in gara. Michelin è stato di grande aiuto per ottenere la guida della categoria Superstock, dandoci la possibilità di fare due relais con un solo set di gomme, senza perdere tempo. »
