A Crans Montana, in Svizzera, il week-end appena trascorso regala agli appassionati del grande sci due gare di super gigante e una di slalom gigante maschile. Il canadese Jan Hudec conferma l’ottimo stato di forma e sale sul secondo gradino del podio nel super gigante di venerdì 24 febbraio. Ottima gara anche il giorno seguente, dove chiude al quinto posto, sempre in super gigante. Per il norvegese Aksel Lund Svindal e il canadese Erik Guay, due gare fotocopia. Il primo conclude entrambe i super giganti in nona posizione, mentre il secondo ottiene due tredicesimi posti. Nella gara di sabato 25 febbraio, segnali di ripresa da parte dell’azzurro Werner Heel che giunge al traguardo diciottesimo. Mancano le soddisfazioni per gli atleti Dainese nella gara di slalom gigante di domenica 26 febbraio. Aksel Lund Svindal è protagonista di una brutta caduta, fortunatamente senza conseguenze. Solo Manfred Moelgg giunge al traguardo ed occupa la ventitreesima posizione.

In Bulgaria gareggiano le donne e si svolge una sola gara, domenica 26 febbraio. In super gigante Maria Hoelf-Riesch è sesta, mentre l’azzurra Johanna Schnarf conclude la gara in quattordicesima posizione.

Last weekend Crans Montana, in Switzerland offered ski fans two Super Gs and one giant slalom race in the men’s section. The Canadian Jan Hudec confirmed his excellent physical condition, coming second in the Super G on Friday 24 February and getting an excellent fifth place the next day, again in Super G. The Norwegian Aksel Lund Svindal and the Canadian Erik Guay, had two photocopy runs with the first coming ninth in both Super G’s and the second getting two thirteenth places. On Saturday 25 February, the Italian Werner Heel showed signs of recovery coming in eighteenth at the finishing line. The giant slalom on Sunday 26 February however was not generous with results for Dainese athletes with Aksel Lund Svindal suffering a nasty fall, luckily without consequences. Only Manfred Moelgg reached the finishing line, in twenty-third place.

The women raced in Bulgaria where there was only one competition on Sunday 26 February. Maria Hoelf-Riesch came sixth in the Super G, while the Italian Johanna Schnarf ended the race fourteenth.

SKI WORLD CUP 2011-12: 18-19 FEBRUARY 2012

Dopo le gare maschili dello scorso week-end, la sede delle prossime Olimpiadi ospita anche il circuito femminile. Siamo a Sochi (Russia) e sabato 18 febbraio si disputa una gara di discesa libera. Maria Hoefl-Riesch è autrice di una gara sensazionale e torna alla vittoria in questa disciplina dopo più di un anno. Una grande iniezione di fiducia ed un test perfettamente riuscito in vista delle Olimpiadi 2014. All’undicesimo posto troviamo poi l’azzurra Johanna Schnarf.

A Bansko, in Bulgaria, gareggiano gli uomini. Nello slalom gigante di sabato 18 febbraio, Aksel Lund Svindal chiude la gara ai piedi del podio, quarto. Decima e tredicesima posizione per gli azzurri Manfred Moelgg e Florian Eisath. Domenica è la volta dello slalom e Stefano Gross sale sul podio per la terza volta in questa stagione, chiudendo al terzo posto. Manfred Moelgg conferma il piazzamento del giorno precedente e termina decimo.

After the men’s races last week-end, the next Olympic site acted as host to the women’s circuit. Here in Sochi (Russia), Saturday 18 February was the turn of the downhill with Maria Hoefl-Riesch putting in a top performance to win this discipline after more than a year. A real confidence booster and perfectly executed trial run for the 2014 Olympics. The Italian Johanna Schnarf finished in eleventh place.

The men raced in Bansko, Bulgaria, in the giant slalom on Saturday 18 February where Aksel Lund Svindal finished just off the podium in fourth place and the Italians Manfred Moelgg and Florian Eisathi came in tenth and thirteenth. Sunday was the turn of the slalom with Stefano Gross getting a place on the podium for the third time this season, finishing third and Manfred Moelgg confirming his ranking of the day before, coming in tenth.

La Coppa del Mondo maschile si sposta per la prima volta in Russia, a Sochi, sede delle prossime Olimpiadi nel 2014. Sabato 11 febbraio si corre in discesa libera. Aksel Lund Svindal chiude in tredicesima posizione. Ventesimo il canadese Erik Guay e ventiquattresimo il connazionale Jan Hudec. Il giorno seguente, in supercombinata, Aksel Lund Svindal è autore di una buona gara e chiude al sesto posto.

Anche per il circuito femminile, la sede delle gare di questo week-end è una novità assoluta. Si gareggia a Soldeu, nel Principato d’Andorra. La gara di slalom di sabato 11 febbraio non regala buone notizie per le atlete Dainese, pronte a rifarsi però il giorno seguente in slalom gigante. Maria Hoefl-Riesch sale sul terzo gradino del podio di una specialità che non la vedeva così in alto da più di due anni. L’azzurra Manuela Moelgg chiude subito alle spalle della campionessa tedesca, quarta e al miglior risultato stagionale.

The following day in the super-combined Aksel Lund Svindal had a good race, coming in sixth.

On the women’s circuit too there was a brand new location, Soldeu in the Principality of Andorra. The slalom on Saturday 11 February did not reserve anything good for the Dainese athletes, ready however to fight back the following day in the giant slalom where Maria Hoefl-Riesch got third place on the podium in a speciality she had not done this well in for two years. The Italian Manuela Moelgg finished right behind the German champion, in fourth place, getting her best result this season.
