16 maggio 2012 | News

by Nico Cereghini

Allora fateci divertire!

Le Mans, one year ago was the scene of Valentino's only podium finish for Ducati with Stoner and Dovizioso ahead of him. Will this bring good luck? In the meantime, the Desmosedici may have improved. The French track places emphasis on late braking and hard acceleration and is also well suited to other Italian Moto2 and Moto3 riders. Let’s entertain us!

46 WORDS BEFORE ESTORIL

04 maggio 2012 | News

by Nico Cereghini

Dodici mesi fa all’Estoril Pedrosa, Lorenzo e Stoner nell’ordine, e potrebbe andare ancora così perché il terzetto è in palla. Bella pista, la portoghese, ma le sorprese possono arrivare da Fenati in Moto3, non da Rossi e dalla Ducati. Ci basterebbe un quinto posto.

by Nico Cereghini

Twelve months ago in Estoril Pedrosa, Lorenzo and Stoner finished in that order, and it might just happen again because the trio is in a good shape. The Portuguese circuit is amazing but we may be surprised by Fenati in the Moto3, not by Rossi or the Ducati. A fifth place would suffice.

Kyalami, Sunday 22sd April

Chris Leeson miraculously escaped serious injury when he crashed his national superbile seires Ducati 1199 Panigale run by RACE! South Africa during testing at Kyalami at the weekend.

Coming into turn 1 at full racing speed, Chris just lost the front end and the bike somersaulted itself to destruction.

"We'd been battling to get the gearing right during the test," esplained Chris. "On my previous bikes, when you hit the rev-limiter, It knocks off the power and pulls the front end down, giving more grip. The Ducati doesn't like sitting on the limiter so much so we had geared it to stay below that limit. As the front end went light, it stayed light and I lost it." Despite bruising, Chris was able to walk away and will be ok for this weekned's race in PE, largely thanks to the performance of his Dainese redline double zipper leathers.

"The bike's a total write-off," said team owner, Marco Casciani, "All we can salvage is the engine which we will keep as a spare. But we are busy building up the spare bike - in fact, It's almost finished - and we will definitely be in PE for round three of the National Superbike series.

"This is racing and these things happen, but you prepare for them and we will be ready for PE. We are just thankful that Chris is alright; he's been checked out by the doctors and has been passed fit to race on Saturday and will continue to take the fight to the opposition as he has all season."
