More satisfaction for the Dainese Team from the World Championship slopes in Garmisch Partenkirchen, again thanks to our leading athlete: in spite of a fever that made it difficult for her to give her best in the last heats (we mention her proud attempt in the Super-combined race) she still managed to assert her class.
This is Maria Riesch's second bronze of the 2011 World Championship, this time in the downhill. The gap between the strongest athletes and the others is just too wide and so, in spite of everything, the race for the medals ended up with a podium that mirrors last season's results: bronze for Maria, silver for her eternal rival, the American Lindsey Vonn, and gold for a surprising Elisabeth Goergl, at her second win in this year's championships.
This is the third World Championship medal in the German athlete’s career, and her fifth in all counting the two Olympic golds at Vancouver 2010.
In the men’s races, Aksel Svindal defended his position well in the Downhill, taking a fifth place that undoubtedly does him credit: his fatigue at the finish line is proof that he gave his all, missing the podium by a hair's breadth".

Ancora soddisfazioni per il team Dainese dalle piste dei Mondiali di Garmisch Partenkirchen, ancora una volta merito della nostra atleta di punta: nonostante la febbre che le ha reso difficile rendere al meglio nelle ultime prove (ricordiamo la prova d'orgoglio della Super Combinata) ha saputo comunque far valere la propria classe.

Per Maria Riesch si tratta della seconda medaglia di bronzo ai Campionati del Mondo 2011, questa volta in discesa libera. Troppo ampio il divario tra le più forti e le altre atlete, così, nononostante tutto, il gioco per le medaglie si conclude con un podio che rispecchia i risultati visti durante la stagione: Maria bronzo, l'argento all’americana ed eterna rivale Lindsey Vonn, mentre l'oro va a una sorprendente Elisabeth Goergl, al secondo successo in questi mondiali.
Per la campionessa tedesca si tratta della terza medaglia iridata in carriera, la quinta in totale, considerando i due ori olimpici di Vancouver 2010.
Per quanto riguarda gli uomini, Aksel Svindal si difende bene in Discesa, cogliendo un quinto posto che gli fa decisamente onore: la fatica accusata all'arrivo dimostra che ha dato tutto ciò che poteva, mancando il podio per un soffio.
