Pazzesco essere di nuovo qui!
Non sembra proprio che sia passato già un anno...
Il tempo è bello, la luce del nord che dura fino alle 10 di sera, i colori pastello... l'atmosfera è placida, d'altri tempi, rispettosa della tradizione, della storia, che si respira a ogni curva, leggendo ogni cartello, guardando le foto di vecchi piloti appese sopra il camino nei pub.
Abbiamo salutato sopra Fairy Bridge, come vuole la tradizione, come abbiamo fatto l'anno scorso, se no mica saremmo potuti tornare!
I motociclisti girano già per l'isola, fieri ed eccitati di partecipare al Tourist Trophy, bevono birra e guardano le prove dalla terrazza del Creg ny baa, si mischiano ai piloti, ai meccanici del paddock, a tratti il clima è quello delle feste, delle sagre: gli stand degli hot dog e dei gelati, le tende con souvenir e gadget.

Le insegne Dainese sono al loro posto, a proteggere pali e a salutare il passaggio dei piloti...giù da Bray Hill, velocissimi e poi su, passando per Ago's Leap: li guardiamo volare dal giardino di una casa, i proprietari sono in vacanza, ci dice Paul Phillips, ma ci danno il permesso di occupare il prato, tra le rose e le gardenie, per assistere alle prove, in uno dei punti più spettacolari, stretto stretto tra i muretti delle case...
Guy Martin è tranquillo, nelle prove di mercoledì è andato bene, sorridente come sempre, ci saluta con calore, domani proviamo la tuta con il D-air e domani sera arrivano le leggende: Agostini e Valentino, passato e presente, uno il simbolo dell'inizio del progetto di Dainese per la sicurezza dei piloti e l'altro lo stato dell'arte, il presente; insieme al TT per fare il tifo per Guy: pilota Dainese di un altro circuito, con un'altra storia, ma unito ad Agostini dalla passione per questa corsa incredibile, pura adrenalina e rischio e a Valentino perchè come lui è pilota impegnato con Dainese per la sicurezza e lo sviluppo dell'airbag.

THE ISLE OF MAN TOURIST TROPHY

It’s just amazing to be here again!
I can’t believe another year has passed already...
The weather’s fine, and up here at the northern latitudes it’s still bright at 10 pm. The subdued, pastel hues and calm atmosphere of yesteryear emphasize the long tradition and history you breathe at every curve and read in every sign or as you gaze at the yellowed photos of old racers hung over the fireplaces in the pubs.
We said our goodbyes over Fairy Bridge as tradition demands, just like last year, otherwise we might not have been able to return!
The motorcycle riders tour the island, proud and excited at the idea of participating in the Tourist Trophy. They drink beer and watch the practice tests from the Creg ny baa terrace; you mingle with the racers and the mechanics in the paddocks. The atmosphere is like a country fair, with hot dog and ice-cream stands, and tents selling souvenirs and gadgets.

The Dainese signs are all in place to provide protection against posts and greet the racers coming down at high speed from Bray Hill, and then leaping over Ago's Leap: we watch them fly from the garden of a private home – the owners are away on holiday - Paul Phillips tells us, but they’ve agreed to let us watch the tests from the front lawn that surrounds their roses and gardenias and stands in one of the most spectacular places wedged in between the houses next door.
Guy Martin is serene; he did well in Wednesday’s test, smiling as usual, giving us a warm greeting. Tomorrow we’ll be testing the suit with the D-air airbag. Tomorrow evening. the legends are scheduled to arrive: Agostini and Valentino, representing the past and the present, the first was the start of the Dainese Project for the safety of the riders, the second stands for the current state of the art. Both are here at the TT to cheer for Guy: a Dainese racer from another circuit and another story, but one who also shares with Agostini the same passion for this incredible race - pure adrenaline and risk - and the same commitment as Valentino as yet another racer working with Dainese for greater safety and the development of the airbag.
