ILT 2011: meet XAVIER & JESSE!

07 settembre 2011 | Contests

Today we will meet two other protagonists of this year's ILT, Jesse from Ireland and Xavier from Spain. Let's read what they tell us about themselves.

Javier: "As you know I bought my Dainese leather suit in Marti Motos at Andorra. I was spending there a weekend of relax, but as every time I go to Andorra, I can't go back home without go shopping. So, after 1h dressing and undressing leather suits...I made the right choice: Laguna Seca Pro. I didn't know about ILT before one of the shop assistant told me about it, so it was a surprise for me to hear about that fantastic event. So, as soon as I went back to the hotel, I fulfilled the contest registration. That was at the very last minute, because it was the last day. So, you can imagine what an incredible surprise to receive such fantastic news from you on the next Monday. To be honest, I still can't believe it!
Talking about my expertise on motobikes, I have to say that my first experience with a motorbike was when I was 12 years-old,...although it is after obtaining my license at the age of 14 that I had my first motorbike.....it's a long time since then (36, now). I can say motorbikes are one of my passions. In fact, I love anything related to motor sports....but motorbikes the most. I can't remember since when I follow the World Championship, but I love to go anytime I can, to see it when it arrives to Barcelona (Montmeló)."

Jesse says: "I have been driving bikes for 25 years. My first was a Yamaha DT 125, which I bought when I was 11 years old and sice then I have never been without a bike.
Currently I drive a Yamaha MT-01, which I bought back in 2007. When I first received your mail with the subject "CONGRATULATIONS YOU HAVE WON....." I actually thought it was a spam mail and was just about to delete it until I noticed the address it was coming from was @dainese.com. Suddenly I remembered entering the ILT 2011 competition and immediately took interest in your mail. I had to read it about 6 times, as I really couldn't believe I had won this amazing competition. It still has not sunk in !!"

ILT 2011: meet CHRISTIAN!

07 settembre 2011 | Contests

My brother, who is seven years older than me, started riding an old Honda CX500 when he was 18. When he took me for a ride it felt great. Form that day on I always wanted to ride a motorbike myself, once I was old enough. Luckily my brother paved the way for me during long discussions with my parents. So when it came to my 18th birthday they could not forbid me to have a motorbike my own.

During the next eight years I did not own a car and solely rode my motorbike. I always liked naked bikes more than racing machines. Although one day I would like to try riding one. The last bike I had was a Suzuki DR650 with street wheels, which was kind of a supermoto… but not really.

When I sold it, I decided that whenever I would buy me a bike again it would be a real supermoto. Perferably a KTM LC4 640. Now eight years later I bought that KTM some weeks ago and when I bought the Dainese equipment I was really surprised how much safer that stuff feels than what I was wearing back in 1994. Ok, maybe army boots and cowboy trousers are not the best for riding motorbikes anyway.

Some weeks later I was informed that in addition to owning a bike again I had won the ILT 2011. Incredible! I heard about the tour before from the people at Daineseshop Dortmund and knew that it was said to be really an amazing trip. I could not believe it when I found the Email in my inbox. I had to read it twice and then I read all the infos about the tour again, now knowing that I will actually be a part of it and not only reading the press articles before and afterwards.
I don´t know yet what I would like to ask the professional riders that are with us. Perhaps what kind of sports they prefer apart from motorcycling or which motorbike was the best bike they ever rode. Ah… and I would like to ask Giacomo Agostini if he could maybe sign my helmet. I guess that in my luggage will be the Dainese equipment that I got and maybe an italian dictionary.

I am also looking forward to meet the other participants of the tour. I think it´s great that we come together from all over europe and can share that perfect experience and the passion for motorbikes thanks to Dainese. Can´t wait till next wednesday. The landscape on the photos looks fantastic.

ILT 2011: meet JESSICA from Germany!

03 settembre 2011 | Contests
