DAINESE SIGNS PAUL BASAGOITIA
15 February 2012 | News
Dainese is proud to announce its sponsorship with the pro free-rider Paul Basagoitia.
Basagoitia began his journey as a pro in 2004 at Crankworx with an unexpected first place, competing with a borrowed biked and no sponsors. A back to back win a year later boosted his career in the pro tour. Since then Paul Bass has held top positions at many of the top free-ride events showcasing his skills on countless major video productions. First place at Red Bull District Ride EU 2006, first place overall at Nissan Quasquai Tour in 2007, multiple podiums at the Teva Mountain Games and a consistent Red Bull Rampage attendee is what today makes Bass a solid icon of this sport. 2012 holds a busy schedule for the free-rider; Paul will attend the most prestigious free-ride contests from the slope-style invitational to dirt jump jams all over the world. Besides competing he will spend extensive time filming for Free-ride Entertainment, producer of the upcoming film Where the Trail Ends.
For Dainese, working with athletes has always gone above and beyond mere sponsoring operations, it expresses a deeper collaboration linked to research and development for innovative solutions that protect riders while setting new standards. The collaboration with Paul sets new goals in this direction, compliments of Paul’s experience with pushing the limits of what is possible on a mountain-bike. Paul Bass this year will be riding in full Dainese apparel and armour rocking the new knee pads featuring the BOA closure System.
“I'm stoked to be working with such an innovated company. The technology behind every product can stand alone as the best biking products available to its riders. I can only expect even greater advances in their clothing and armor, which will push the limits to what mountain biking has to offer today. Because Dainese is not specifically just biking clothing and armor, its ensures me, and their consumers, protection, regardless of which extreme sport one is practicing” Paul Basagoitia
