ILT 2011: meet CHRISTIAN!

07 September 2011 | Contests | Italian Legendary Tour

My brother, who is seven years older than me, started riding an old Honda CX500 when he was 18. When he took me for a ride it felt great. Form that day on I always wanted to ride a motorbike myself, once I was old enough. Luckily my brother paved the way for me during long discussions with my parents. So when it came to my 18th birthday they could not forbid me to have a motorbike my own.

During the next eight years I did not own a car and solely rode my motorbike. I always liked naked bikes more than racing machines. Although one day I would like to try riding one. The last bike I had was a Suzuki DR650 with street wheels, which was kind of a supermoto… but not really.

When I sold it, I decided that whenever I would buy me a bike again it would be a real supermoto. Perferably a KTM LC4 640. Now eight years later I bought that KTM some weeks ago and when I bought the Dainese equipment I was really surprised how much safer that stuff feels than what I was wearing back in 1994. Ok, maybe army boots and cowboy trousers are not the best for riding motorbikes anyway.

Some weeks later I was informed that in addition to owning a bike again I had won the ILT 2011. Incredible! I heard about the tour before from the people at Daineseshop Dortmund and knew that it was said to be really an amazing trip. I could not believe it when I found the Email in my inbox. I had to read it twice and then I read all the infos about the tour again, now knowing that I will actually be a part of it and not only reading the press articles before and afterwards.
I don´t know yet what I would like to ask the professional riders that are with us. Perhaps what kind of sports they prefer apart from motorcycling or which motorbike was the best bike they ever rode. Ah… and I would like to ask Giacomo Agostini if he could maybe sign my helmet. I guess that in my luggage will be the Dainese equipment that I got and maybe an italian dictionary.

I am also looking forward to meet the other participants of the tour. I think it´s great that we come together from all over europe and can share that perfect experience and the passion for motorbikes thanks to Dainese. Can´t wait till next wednesday. The landscape on the photos looks fantastic.
